John Gates has been in the ballroom industry for 25 years. He started in Canada in 1983. Seeking more knowledge and opportunity he moved to the USA in 1984. He worked for the Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Bay Shore. A NDCA member since 1984, John Gates worked his way up to being one of the top teacher's in the United States. Naturally being proud of having his students ranking the Top Students in the United States, he was most honored to be the Fred Astiare Undefeated American Smooth with his Partner Lisa Brittany.

In 1998 John Gates and Stephen Knight opened the doors to the Fastest growing studio in the history of the Fred Astaire Organization. They are recipients of the John Monte Award.

John is on the Fred Astaire National Dance Board and is one of the Top Business Trainers in the Country. He is available for Seminars and Coaching.

In 2005 John became the new Co Owner of the State of Wisconsin Area Franchisor. Since then their area has grown to 6 Schools around the Milwaukee Area and expanding to their 7th location in Madison WI. Soon to open the their 8th school in the Hales Corners Area in the South Side of Milwaukee.

John and Stephen provide the top training to all their Franchisees in their Regional Office centrally located between all the studios.

John now lives for the growth of his People and sharing the Gift of Dance to Everyone.
